Food boxes distributed by Fidelity Bank have benefited more than 100,000 vulnerable households and impoverished families nationwide thus far.
Over the weekend in Ilọrin, the capital of Kwara State, this was revealed by Mr. Adebayo Adeyinka, the bank’s executive Technical Assistant and Managing Director/CEO.
The gift was a part of the bank’s social responsibility and was made in cooperation with Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, the Office of the State First Lady. The gesture helped over 3,000 people.
Adeyinka said: “We have visited more than ten states where we think there are challenges of food insecurity to support the government’s efforts.
Continuing: “It was a vision conceived by the MD/CEO, Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe and we have distributed over a hundred thousand packs since we started.
“The message is whether you are an individual or a corporate body, do whatever you can to reach out to the less privileged in their society especially during this economic situation”, he added.
She cited Mr. Morenike Olabisi, Regional Bank Head for South West 2 (Kwara, Osun, and Ekiti), who said the bank is also assisting in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 2, which is to end hunger, through this effort.
She however said: “We created this platform to contribute our quota to the reduction of hunger, poverty, malnutrition and infant/maternal mortality and beneficiariea cut across the six geo-political zones in the country.”
